Clubs & Community Sport

Clubs and Community -The Red Backs

RMIT Link Sport and Recreation has over 25 sporting and recreational clubs for RMIT students, staff and graduates as well as their friends and family to get involved in.

As a member of the RMIT Community, you have a fantastic opportunity to access a wide range of sporting and recreational activities, with more value for money than any outside club would offer.

Join a Club

Anyone can join a club at any stage throughout their program by registering and paying the club membership fee. Fees and activities offered vary from club to club.

To find out about the existing clubs, and to get more information on how to sign up to the ones you're interested in, check the A – Z Club Sites listings.

Assistance in starting a New Club

If you have a hobby or interest that is not mentioned, start a new club – it's that easy! RMIT Link Sport & Recreation will help subsidise your activities and help get you organised. All you need is some enthusiasm and a few friends who are interested in getting involved. Contact the Sport and Recreation Officer (Clubs).

Community Sport

If you would simply like to group up with some university friends and play some competitive sport we also have the opportunity to place you into semi-casual community sport competitions. Such competitions include Tennis, Volleyball, Basketball, Futsal and many more. Please contact the Sport and Recreation Officer (Clubs) to learn how to get involved.

RMIT has developed strong affiliations with the following community sports clubs:

Banyule Football Club
Melbourne Flames Dragon Boat Club
Melbourne University Athletics Club
Melbourne Rowing Club

We encourage members of the RMIT Community to get involved with these clubs. These clubs offer the RMIT Community discounted membership rates – and the chance to actively participate.

Personal Development and Accredited Qualifications

RMIT Link Sport and Recreation is proud to offer a Certificate IV in Sport Administration (SRO40106) to all Club Executives who attend the required Club Development Sessions and Forums and submit the required documentation. This is a nationally accredited course and will open countless professional career opportunities.

The RMIT Link Sport and Recreation Club Executive Volunteer Training is endorsed by RMIT LEAD (Learn, Engage, Aspire, Develop), RMIT’s official volunteer program. Club Executives who are current RMIT students receive official recognition of their volunteer work on their academic transcript. They also receive a LEAD certificate signed by the Vice Chancellor. This is a great way to be noticed by potential employers.
